 Union and Central Pacific Railroads joined their rails at Promontory Summit. Golden Spike National Historic Site commemorates this nation's first transcontinental railroad.

City of Rocks National Reserve, Idaho

City of Rocks is located along the California Trail.  You can see wagon ruts, pioneer inscriptions, 60 story tall granite spires and monoliths, a lot of history and a great place to climb.

Craters of the Moon National Monument

We hiked across the lava flow and went into the lava tubes and caves.  Luke's favorite is the "Boy Scout" cave. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho was a great experience.

This the Roosevelt Arch at the north entrance of the park at Yellowstone National Park.

 Once you see the waters begin to flow and spurt you have a 90 to 120 minute window to when the geyser may go.  We waited it out.  It was well worth it.
